John's inductor into the Victorian Hall Of Fame was Sony CEO Denis Handlin, who acknowledged that the word "legend" is overused in rock'n'roll, then raised it to "icon" and named You're the Voice our "unofficial national anthem".
Denis also spoke about Johns' charity work, his loyalty and his committment to family.
John thanked everyone who had ever had an influence on his career, his mates Glenn and Gaynor, his wife Jill and boys, Robert and James.
John finished by thanking his fans for the many years of support.
