Brett

Brett Garsed

Brett was born in rural Victoria, Australia and began playing guitar at age 12 after hearing Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore play Speed King. He is largely self-taught. In July of 1985 Brett sent out some demo tapes, one of which was heard by Ross Fraser of the Wheatley Organization, which led to an audition for a short tour with John. Brett continued to tour and record with John until early 1989 when he was invited to the US to audition for Nelson, which was successful and he toured with them for most of 1991. Brett is known for his work as a guitarist with T. J. Helmerich, as well as being a former member of the American band Nelson. Brett was featured on Derek Sherinian's solo records Planet X (1999) and Planet X's Quantum (2007) and Sherinian's Molecular Heinosity (2010). Brett features on the album Whispering Jack and toured with John and Lionel Ritchie.

Angus

Angus Burchall

Angus was born in Melbourne and started drumming at the age of 10. He had a career in journalism, writing about football and cricket before joining John's band just after 'Whispering Jack' was recorded and has proudly been John's drummer ever since. Throughout he has also played with numerous artists including Olivia Newton-John, Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, Ray Charles, Boz Scaggs, Kylie Minogue, Tommy Emmanuel, Merril Bainbridge and Daryl Braithwaite. His film soundtracks include: Romper Stomper, Gross Misconduct, Metal Skin and Angel Baby. His work on television includes: Don't Forget Your Toothbrush, In Melbourne Tonight and Dancing With The Stars. He was also part of the 'Dancing With The Stars' and 'It Takes Two' orchestras.

Lisa

Lisa Edwards

Lisa is renowned for her ability to perform live and has covered many areas in the music industry including jazz, musicals and contemporary material. Lisa has worked with many artists including Sting, Al Green, Lenny Kravitz, Natalie Cole, Bryan Adams, Cindy Lauper, Yoko Ono, Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Anthony Warlow, Olivia Newton John, Barbara Streisand, Noiseworks, Black Sorrows, Real Life, Ross Wilson, Billy Thorpe, Glen Shorrock, Brian Cadd, Mike Brady, Kate Ceberano and Kylie Minogue.
Lisa has been a constant member of the Farnham band since 1988, touring both nationally and internationally.
Lisa released her debut album Thru The Hoop in 1993 from which the song CRY was an immediate hit achieving gold status. State Of The Heart was released in 2003 and I Am Still The Woman in 2021.

Lindsay

Lindsay Field

A well known and highly respected talent in the Australian music industry, Lindsay is recognised not only for his skills as a vocalist and musician but has also established a strong reputation as an inspirational vocal coach, arranger, musical director and executive producer. In addition Lindsay's speaking voice, immediately described as liquid chocolate, has been gracing the airwaves in response to the growing demand for his skills as a voice over artist. He has toured with artists including Jimmy Barnes, Glenn Shorrock, Renee Geyer, Brian Cadd, Kylie Minogue and Olivia Newton-John. Lindsay also has extensive theatrical experience. Since 1983 he has been Executive Producer for the Myer/Grace Bros. Spirit Of Christmas albums. He co-produced the 'I Still Call Australia Home' commercials for Qantas. Mother Love 2004 and Mother Love 2005 is produced by Lindsay and raises money for breast cancer.

Chong

Chong Lim

Chong was born in Ipoah, Malaysia. His parents suggested that he learn a musical instrument while growing up and he is glad that they persuaded him to study hard and acquire a qualification. The combination of his talent on the piano and his mechanical engineering nouse paved the way for a long music career. In 1977 he moved to Australia to study Mechanical Engineering, but having completed the course decided his heart was really in music. Chong is John's Musical Director. He works as a producer, musical director, arranger, keyboard player, sound programmer and composer. He is one of Australia's most experienced musicians. He was involved in both the opening and closing ceremonies of Sydney 2000 and he was musical director and composer for the Handover Ceremony of the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games. He was the Musical Director for Rolling Thunder Vietnam.

Chet

Stuart Fraser

Stuart (Chet) played the guitar professionally from the age of 15. In his mid-teens in 1976 he joined Blackfeather, which later became Feather. He then plugged in with The Cyril B. Bunter Band and Swanee, the band formed by Feather singer John Swan. In 1986 he and Jon Stevens formed the band NOISEWORKS. They released three multi-platinum albums. He was a member of the JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR band in 1993. He was the first Australian artist to be endorsed by Gibson Guitar. Stuart has worked with Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Boz Scaggs, Kylie Minogue, Joe Camilleri, Tommy Emmanuel, Tina Arena, Olivia Newton-John, Nick Barker, Diesel, Daryl Braithwaite and David Hirschfelder. He has collaborated on several projects as performer, producer, composer for albums, commercial jingles, TV shows and theatre. Stuart worked with Chong Lim on many of the recordings for the Sydney Olympic Games.

Sadly on December 1st 2019 Chet lost his battle with cancer. He is missed by all that loved him.

Craig Newman

Craig Newman

Craig Newman's musical studies commenced at the age of 12 when he began playing trumpet with his secondary school big band. However, by the time he was 16 years old, he had developed a considerable interest for the bass guitar. In 1991, Craig toured the UK, Japan and Australia with Kylie Minogue. In 1995 he toured the UK and Australia again, this time with the Seekers. Live performances with Australian bands include Graham Lyall's show band, WJAZ, Venice Beach and Wilbur Wilde's blow out and artists including Peter Cupples, Mick Pealing, Steven Cummings, Danielle Gaha, Yo Yo, Tommy Emmanuel, Patrick McMahon, Marie Wilson, Donna Fisk, Colleen Hewett, Billy Thorpe, David Atkins "Dancing Man" and "Sweet Charity the musical". Craig was the resident bass player for "Hey Hey It's Saturday". He has appeared in the "New Faces" Resident band, ABC's 'Jazz is Now' and the 1999, 2000 and 2001 Logies.

Susie Ahern

Susie Ahern

Susie is one of Australia's best Contemporary Voice Specialists. She has coached some of this countries finest vocalists and has developed a reputation for honest appraisal and insightful instruction. Susie has been a part of many Television Productions including Dancing With The Stars, Idol, It Takes Two, Starstruck and X-Factor. She working as a Vocal Coach and backing vocalist with some of Australia,s best known performers including Kylie Minogue, Anthony Callea, Guy Sebastian, Renee Geyer and John Farnham. Susie was a backing vocalist on Dare To Dream. Susie has worked on many recording projects, as a Producer, Singer and as a Vocal Coach, including the 2000 Olympic Games, The Castle, Dog Films, Mercedes Benz and Sutasi. Susie has also released two albums through ABC's First Edition label, Come In Spinner, More, and her debut original album, Women Are Different as well as two independent albums with renowned Vocal group Adoration. In 2014 she released 7 singles on itunes.

Rod Davies

Rod Davies

Rod's early days were spent in a rock band while studying for a Psychology degree at University. After graduation, opportunities opened up and things started falling into place for a career in Music. Rod has also toured and recorded with Tina Arena, Olivia Newton-John and Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors). He's played roles in a number of Music Theatre productions, and as a session vocalist, has had a successful career on hit Australian TV shows. In 2003 and 2005, Rod released two original albums Beautiful Scars and Turn the TV On. Through TV, radio, and countless studio recordings, Rod's vocal abilities have been on display for more than 20 years. Rod was an experienced live performer before finding his place in the recording studio, where he has made his mark on the Music and Entertainment Scenes and become one of Australia's most sought after session vocalists.

Michelle Serret-Cursio has established herself as one Australia's foremost female vocalists, featuring on Channel 7's top rating TV Show Dancing with The Stars for all 15 Australian seasons and as a contestant on Channel 9's first season of The Voice in team Joel Madden. Michelle worked with John at Hay Mate, Anthems and A Day On The Green 2018 concerts. Michelle has also worked alongside Hugh Jackman, Simply Red, Billy Ocean, Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newton John and Tina Arena. Her vocals have featured on numerous TV commercials including Coles, Mazda and Jetstar, and her career highlights include performing in Abu Dhabi for US president Bill Clinton and a performance alongside soul legend Ray Charles in his final Australian appearances.

Steve Williams

Inspired by John Lennon, Steve started playing the harmonica at 14. He took up saxophone in his twentie and his first professional performance was with country legend CHAD MORGAN in 1979. In the eighties Steve played with many Melbourne rock bands whilst recording television jingles, TV themes, albums and movie soundtracks. He was a member of the IMT Band and the DONT FORGET YOUR TOOTHBRUSH Orchestra. He met John Waters during the JCS Tour which led to his theatrical debut in 1995 in the play REUNION. He co-hosted the TV show WHAT ON EARTH in 1997. Steve also plays guitar and sitar as well as doing backing vocals. Dannielle DeAndrea (nee Gaha) is undoubtedly one of the finest vocal performers of our time. The daughter of a dancer and a drummer, music has always been Dannielles first love. Dannielle has been performing all of her life. As a child she appeared in the stage production of Annie. Her performance on Star Search kicked her career off. She has performed with Glenn Shorrock, Doug Parkinson, Sting, The Pet Shop Boys, toured Europe with Jason Donovan at the height of his pop fame and was one half of the Nissan Cedrics on Roy & HG's Club Buggery. In the early '90s she signed a recording deal in London and released three singles. After an album with the Nissan Cedrics and plenty of teaching, session work, jingles and live performances, Danni has released her solo debut album. You Don't Know Me is a stunning collection of jazz classics.

Bob Coassin

Bob Coassin

2000 - 2010

Bob was born in Connecticut , USA and began playing trumpet at the age of six. Before graduating from high school, he had already toured Europe with soloist Clark Terry and was studying regularly in New York. At 18 he was invited to play lead trumpet for Ray Charles with whom he toured worldwide for four years and recorded six albums. Relocating to Europe in 1980 Bob played lead for jazz radio productions and toured with artists Mel Lewis, Bob Brookmeyer, Dizzie Gillespie, Bill Holman and Al Cohn. Bob's versatility led to teaching engagements, recording, film and television work and backing artists such as Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Caterina Valente, Jose Feliciano and Smokey Robinson. After making Sydney his base in 1988, Bob formed his own band, Superforce.

Lachlan Davidson is a musician involved in many aspects of music. He performs Jazz- Trad, Standards, Original and Funk, He teaches, conducts, tutors, composes and arranges. He plays Alto, tenor, baritone & soprano saxophones, flute, piccolo, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, some trumpet and piano. International Artists he has supported include Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, John Denver, Glen Miller Reunion Band, Eartha Kit, Frank Sinatra, Randy Crawford, Shirley Bassey. Lachlan had this to say about being in the JF Band.... "It is a great honor to step into this world which is so different to my regular one and work with such fine musicians and good guys. It's also great fun performing vibrant music to so many people and trying (often unsuccessfully) to dance at the same time."

Jordan Murray

Jordan moved to Melbourne in 1996 after graduating from the Western Australian Conservatorium of Music, and completing further studies at Berklee College of Music, Boston. While in the United States Jordan studied trombone with Hal Crook, Phil Wilson and composition and arrangement with Herb Pomeroy. Study in the USA gave Jordan the opportunity to perform with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Dennis Chambers and Bill Pierce. Jordan has also performed at various jazz festivals around the world such as India's Jazz Yatra, New York's JVC Jazz Festival and last year in New Orleans as part of the IAJE conference. Jordan has also performed with many leading Australian artists such as Renee Geyer, Tommy Emmanuel, Ross Wilson, Christine Anu, James Morrison and Dale Barlow.

Lex Tier started playing trombone in Mildura at age 13 and then studied music at the Victorian College Of The Arts. He has worked with dozens of Melbourne bands and has worked as a session musician doing TV and radio jingles, album recordings and live performances for artists and bands including Russell Morris and Tina Arena. Lex is a specialised brass teacher with the Victorian Education Department.

Joe Creighton

Joe was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and came to Australia in the early 70's. He is a bass player, singer, songwriter, and composer. He started playing with John in 1988. In 1994 Joe recorded his first solo album HOLYWELL, which was released independently and highly acclaimed by the press and critics. Joe has worked with Boz Scaggs, Ray Charles, Olivia Newton-John, Kylie Minogue. Joe Camilleri, Stephen Cummings, CDB, Kate Ceberano, Tina Arena, Glenn Shorrock, Tim Finn and Crowded House. He toured nationally with Sir George Martin during the 'All You Need Is Beatles' tour. Joe's most recent album, Falling Again received favourable reviews and consistent airplay on ABC radio. Four of Joe's songs from Falling Again are featured in Phil Avalons latest movie Liquid Bridge.

Venetta Fields

Venetta's long and distinguished career began as a gospel singer with a group from her church. "The Templaires". Quite by chance her talents were recognised by Ike & Tina Turner. From there she has worked with such greats as Diana Ross, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Joe Cocker, Quincy Jones, Bette Midler, The Rolling Stones, Burt Bacharach, Bob Dylan, The Supremes, Neil Diamond, Bob Seiger,Aretha Franklin and Barbara Streisand. After her film debut in "A Star is Born", she made the decision to come to Australia. She began recording with Australia's best -: Richard Clapton, Australian Crawl, Jimmy Barnes & New Zealand's Tim Finn. John Farnham, was instrumental in bringing her to the attention of the Australian public. When her spiritual rendition of the Classic "Amazing Grace" brought the concerts to a standstill. Venetta has Co-produced her own CD. "At Last", co writing many of the songs.

David Hirschfelder

David Hirschfelder

1986 - 1994

David started his professional career in the 1980s as a keyboard player for Pyramid and The Little River Band. However, by his late twenties, he found himself in demand as a writer of advertising jingles and radio themes. This work subsequently led him to compose the score for the 1987 film Suzy's Story, and he has never looked back. David Hirschfelder is recognised globally as one of Australia's most distinguished screen-composers, having earned Oscar nominations for Scott Hicks' 'Shine' and Shekhar Kapurs Elizabeth. He is also the winner of two BAFTA (British Academy) awards for 'Strictly Ballroom' and 'Elizabeth'. 2023 sees the release of David's most recent work, his score for John Farnham: Finding The Voice, as well as a body of orchestral arrangements for Russell Morris' concerts with the Sydney Symphony and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras.

Tommy Emmanuel

Tommy Emmanuel

Tommy first started playing the guitar at age four learning to play by ear without any formal instruction. Emmanuel and his brother Phil were child prodigies, starting their professional career in the 1960s when Phil was just 7-years-old and Tommy a mere 4 years old. His first band the "Emmanuel Quartet" was formed in 1960, with Tommy as rhythm guitarist, brothers Phil and Chris as lead guitarist and drummer, sister Virginia on Hawaiian steel guitar. He's is a sought after sessions player.Tommy performs alone, with brother Phil, with his band, with a String Quartet, or the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra. Tommy Emmanuel's career spans three decades and continues to intersect with some of the finest musicians in the world time and time again. Tommy's unique style - he calls it simply "finger style" - is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays a piano.

Chuck Mc Kinney

Chuck Mc Kinney

Chicago born, Chuck originally came to Australia to work in the original Australian production of the stage musical Hair where he met Sydney-born Maggie, his future wife. When the production closed at the end of 1973, the McKinneys formed the Hot City Bump Band. After Hot City Bump Band Chuck, Margaret and David Green formed new group City Strutt. Chuck then formed the Chuck McKinney Band.

Irwin Thomas (Jack Jones)

Irwin Thomas(Jack Jones) was born in New York City and came to Australia when he was ten.
At 14 he was playing professionally in original and cover bands, and earning a reputation as an accomplished and well respected studio musician.
Jack joined the successful 90's band Southern Sons as lead singer and guitarist. He has toured with countless artists. He released his debut solo album, The Evolution of Irwin Thomas, in 2002.

Wayne was offered work with Jim Messina in 1979 and they were the support act for the LRB tour in Autumn. He was asked to join LRB in 1980. Over the years he has toured/recorded with Jim Messina, John Farnham, Kenny Loggins, Little River Band, Warren Zevan, Christopher Cross and Glen Frey. Geoff Wells

Geoff was a founding member and songwriter of the Melbourne based band, The Truth. He has toured and recorded with Tina Arena, Daryl Braithwaite, Ross Wilson and Jon Stevens. Geoff has developed a reputation for powerful live performances which gained him a place in the John Farnham Band. John included one of Geoffs original tunes The Way on his 33 1/3 album. Sam Hawksley

Sam Hawksley

Sam Hawksley loves music; he loves writing it, performing it and producing it. He has recorded eight albums of his own material in between playing for and producing countless artists. A gifted guitarist and gun-for-hire, Sam has performed and recorded with the likes of Paul Brandt, Olivia Newton John, Charlie Worsham, Adam Brand, The Whitlams, Richard Clapton, Ian Moss, Wendy Matthews, Vanessa Amorosi and many more.

Peter Lothian

Peter Lothian

Peter has wide professional experience in the music industry as a musician, arranger & coordinator. After classical training & casual work with the WA Symphony Orchestra, a change in musical direction & graduation from the NSW Conservatorium of Music Jazz course generated international & national tours, backing major artists, recording, live TV & theatre work. Peter was a founding member of the 'Brasstards' (trombone, & brass section arrangements in collaboration with David Hirschfelder for Whispering Jack & Jack's Back), working with Kevin Dubber & Mark Dennison.

Phil Buckle

Phil Buckle collaborated on six of the twelve songs on John's 'Chain Reaction' album (1990). Phil's own band, The State, changed it's name to Southern Sons, with new lead vocalist Jack Jones and made its public debut as support act for John's 'Chain Reaction Tour'.
He has co-written songs with John for the album 'Then Again', with David Hirschfelder and David Hobson for their album 'In This Room' and with Rick Price for his album 'Another Place'. This latter album was also co-produced and co-performed by Phil. Most recently Phil was writing and performing as a member of a new band, Sneak.

Sam See

Sam See

1981

Sam was a founding member of Australian band Sherbet. He toured England and Germany with Bon Scott's band 'Fraternity'. Joined Flying Circus and spent much of the seventies in the US and Canada and carved out a career as a session musician and in film score production. Sam came home on tour in 1978 and decided to stay, forming the Stockley, See and Mason Band. Sam became John Farnham's musical director in 1981 He went on to record with a wide variety of artists. Sam wrote REASONS, the fourth hit single from WHISPERING JACK.

David Jones

David is often described both here and abroad as being one of the most innovative and musical drummers in the world. His mesmerising drum solos are dramatic, humorous, surprising and powerful. David has also performed with Stevie Wonder, John Denver, John Williams (with MSO), Dame Kiri Te Kanawa (with MSO), Seals and Crofts, Don McLean, Danny La Rue, Eartha Kitt, Larry Adler, Petula Clark, Ute Lemper, Barbara Cook, Helen Reddy, Eiji Kitamura, Buddy de Franco, Jose Vicente, Ben Sidran, Bliss, Lee Konitz. Nikki Nicholls

Nikki Nicholls

In 1980, Nikki became the original backing vocalist for the brand new John Farnham Band.
She recorded backing vocals on the WHISPERING JACK album.
Nikki was a renowned Melbourne session singer back in the days when the album recording and commercial industries were thriving.
She has toured Australia and New Zealand with Australian Crawl, Suzi Quatro, Lulu, Richard Clapton, toured the world with Kylie Minogue.
Whilst with John Farnham she supported Stevie Wonder throughout Australia.
Nikki still preforms regularly.

Bill Harrower

Bill Harrower

1980 - 1988

One of Australia's finest session jazz musicians, Bill Harrower performs on all the saxophones, as well as occasionally on flute, piccolo and clarinet. Bill's musical excellence has been recognised throughout the entertainment industry by being selected to be part of the orchestra for many theatrical performances such as 42nd St., A Chorus Line, Guys & Dolls as well as touring and recording with world-famous artists including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jnr, Liza Minelli and John Farnham.

Roger was born in New Zealand and came to Australia for a national tour of GODSPELL. In 1975 he joined LITTLE RIVER BAND as the original bass player. Roger was a member of Melbourne band STARS. He toured South Africa with Cliff Richard in 1978 and joined highly acclaimed fusion band PYRAMID. Roger recorded Fretless bass on You're the Voice and "Touch of Paradise" tracks for the "WHISPERING JACK" album. Roger toured on the 1987/88 'JACK'S BACK' tour.

Mary Bradfield

Mary sang vocals for John in 1981. She was the daughter of legendary jazz singer Millie Bradfield. At 16 she joined New Zealand Band, Fair Sect. She was also a member of Australian Band SPK. Mary was a sought after session musician in Australia.
